Why Schenectady remains doomed

OK, so there is this election, see. School commissioner Ely put up a budget in May and it was defeated.

OK, so you would think Ely would revisit the the vote and budget and come up with something that would be more palatable to the taxpayers.

Since Schenectady is from the democratic school of logic, he returned with a budget of $160,624,500, for a vote a few days ago which was higher! I was an increase in 5.8 percent over the last approved budget, higher than the one defeated.

What? You say. Is this mad or is he saying FU to the people?

We are in a period of massive contraction, right?

Well, there yo go again, you miss the point. This is government.

Both budgets did not reflect any increase in student body or reflect a growth in revenue, but so what. This is just typical government theft. We are not interested in ordinary fraud and overreaching. This is Schenectady. Here is blackmail at its finest.

Here is the deal, if the people voted down the new budget, then by law the "default" budget system goes in. The new budget was $165,525,451, a 15.8% increase!

So, in Schenectady, to lower your school taxes, you vote yes.

So (2), don't tell me politicians care what the people want.

So (3), there is more....

The paper ran an editorial a few days ago saying that the people spoke out against this game playing and voted down the budget by 6 votes. The paper bemoaned that even the first budget made no sense according to any rational approach to expenses and student body. The paper spoke to soon.

Today, it is reported that one of Schenectady's elite had dyslexia when adding electoral numbers and turned 160 into a 106. Thus, the new budget DID pass. The visiting mullah from Iran gave his blessing.

Schenectady, thus, voted in the budget increase to reduce the budget increase. No one can criticize math education in Schenectady. Math results, there, are properly ends oriented, not process oriented. Don't you see?
