Gene's Footnotes

I have never been impressed by the messenger and always inspect the message, which I now understand is not the norm. People prefer to filter out discordant information. As such, I am frequently confronted with, "Where did you hear that...." Well, here you go. If you want an email version, send me an email.

Tipsy Churchill

Irene sent a review along of a biography of Churchill.  HERE

Reliving of history is very depressing. What is worse, Iranian leaders are followers of Hitler, so they have the game plan.

A quote:

After Munich, Churchill experienced moments of intense despair. In the past, he wrote to a friend, “the peace-loving powers have been definitely stronger than the Dictators, but next year we must expect a different balance.” Indeed, he said, the democracies were unlikely to survive “unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigor, we arise and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time.”

Balancing the TIPS:  A new bottom line:  Why bother?

TIPS still may be good, but one has to realize they are based on the Consumer Price Index, which the Feds create and change to keep inflation down.  So, a good idea is based upon trusting the government.

The SS department just announced there are no increases to reflect inflation based on the CPI.  That is enough to realize the shell game being played.

The CPI does not include fuel or food. Go figure.

Greg says buy Asian stocks. I suppose that is the way to go for the long term.

Gold, silver, and oil:  Someone has to blow up Iran's  nuclear facilities. I think soon, as well. So, you have to be in those commodities the second before.
