Gene's Footnotes

I have never been impressed by the messenger and always inspect the message, which I now understand is not the norm. People prefer to filter out discordant information. As such, I am frequently confronted with, "Where did you hear that...." Well, here you go. If you want an email version, send me an email.

Lt. Col West

Lt. Col West is running for Congress in Florida.

Here is a breathtaking speech.

It is heartwarming that in this time of crisis, albeit many don't see it, so many superior people have decided to run for office.  Perhaps, they can turn serving in government into an honorable tour of duty.  As it is, no normal person is interested.

The left detests the military as it is an honorable profession which means it is not easily corrupted. Even with the PC there today, those who serve are generally clear about what and who are to be afforded duty and honor.

Secret insiders not he quotes Thomas Paine:

THESE are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country;
I continue
but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value.

Here is another:

'Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.
