Gene's Footnotes

I have never been impressed by the messenger and always inspect the message, which I now understand is not the norm. People prefer to filter out discordant information. As such, I am frequently confronted with, "Where did you hear that...." Well, here you go. If you want an email version, send me an email.

Sociopath No. 1: Al Armendariz

Greg sent over a depressing blog. The author is a remarkable thinker and writer.

I think it is a good time to hold up sociopaths to ridicule. The most effective way to resist the emperor is to point out he is not wearing clothes.  The crowd may catch on.  Let us start, for no operative reason, with the one Obama appointee who was driven from office:

Al Armendariz

Mr. Armendariz was the "administrator" for Region VI of the Environmental Protection Agency. Before that, being an Obama operative, he did not have a real job. He was an academic who applied the rules and procedures common among modern university careerists to his new job. He was ruthless liar in pursuit of a political agenda without any understanding or regard for the real world. The spoils of victory are academic grants and high level appointments.

He is noted for his "philosophy of enforcement:"
“It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean.  They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them.
“Then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.”
According to Mr. Armendariz, you know, "Its a deterrent factor."

This philosophy prompted Mr. Armendariz to announce he would "crucify" companies violating environmental laws and bizarre interpretations. At last, the resistance to his openly fascistic rule resulted in his resignation. Going back to President Wilson, U.S. has flirted with fascism, it seem a good idea in the FDR period, but it remains offensive when visable.

A Mr. Kramer, Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club said,
"the only people who will celebrate his resignation are the polluters who continue to foul Texas air and the politicians who serve those special interests."
Among those special interests are people who object to lying and arbitrary tyranny. Read on.
The EPA issued an emergency order in 2010 accusing Range Resources of contaminating an aquifer west of Fort Worth [by fracking] and giving it 48 hours to provide clean drinking water to residents. Armendariz said, the Huffington Post reported, he went around the state because it (presumably, the company) wasn't responding quickly enough.
The order later was withdrawn after a state court ruled evidence that fracking had caused the contamination had been falsified.
Curiously, Range and EPA had settled the case on terms neither wholly favorable nor unfavorable to either side. This was ignored in the crucifixion. The Range Resources saga is complicated; the best account is found in this recent Dallas Observer article.
Dr. Armendariz left the Obama Administration and became a lobbyist. Of course, the rules of ethics did not apply to him. Fascists are exempt from law and regulation, as long as the President decides to preclude enforcement. No one wants to deviate from the President lest they be prosecuted or the subject of media outrage. Once you take an advantage from a gangster, you are owned.
Tougher rules against revolving door for lobbyists and former officials
"No political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration."Sources: Obama ethics plan

Sierra Club Welcomes Dr. Al Armendariz to Beyond Coal CampaignDALLAS – Former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator Dr. Alfredo “Al” Armendariz will join the staff of the Sierra Club effective in mid-July as Senior Campaign Representative for the organization’s Beyond Coal campaign. Based in Austin, Dr. Armendariz will draw on his scientific expertise working on air, water, and climate science to help move Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas off coal-fired electricity and toward an economy powered by job-generating clean energy sources such as wind and the sun. "This is an exciting day for clean energy and public health supporters in Texas,” said Bruce Nilles, Senior Campaign Director for Beyond Coal campaign. “Al has worked closely with the Sierra Club for many years, as an environmental scientist and professor. He understands the critical importance of developing clean energy to create jobs, protect people and protect air and water."....

This is enlightening:

Club founder David Brower:  “Childbearing [should be] a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license… All potential parents [should be] required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing.”
Finding sociopaths to ridicule will be easy.
