Gene's Footnotes

I have never been impressed by the messenger and always inspect the message, which I now understand is not the norm. People prefer to filter out discordant information. As such, I am frequently confronted with, "Where did you hear that...." Well, here you go. If you want an email version, send me an email.

More: How the Fascist State Replicates

...With midterm elections not far off, Democratic opposition researchers are armed with thousands of pages of records obtained from the Environmental Protection Agency through the Freedom of Information Act, far outpacing known Republican efforts to pry information loose from the agency, records show.
Democrats have filed more than 50 FOIA requests, including lots seeking correspondence between Republicans and EPA officials — letters that operatives will scour for any hint that politicians’ rhetoric doesn’t square with how they conduct themselves outside of public view. Their findings help supply a steady flow of material for damaging news stories and campaign ads.

Twenty-eight of the Democrats’ requests have been completed. Most resulted in the EPA release of documents with some reports that a search yielded no records. The other requests are being processed or await assignment.
Republican political committees have filed just four requests since 2012, and none of those has been fulfilled....

Your government and tax dollars are being used to assure your government supports the current regime.  Of course, the GOP is defective in all aspects, as seen above.
Vote "None of the Above" and get rid of all professional politicians and parties. There is no next year.  The truth is no longer "out there."
The fat lady is warming up.

Sociopath No. 1: Al Armendariz

Greg sent over a depressing blog. The author is a remarkable thinker and writer.

I think it is a good time to hold up sociopaths to ridicule. The most effective way to resist the emperor is to point out he is not wearing clothes.  The crowd may catch on.  Let us start, for no operative reason, with the one Obama appointee who was driven from office:

Al Armendariz

Mr. Armendariz was the "administrator" for Region VI of the Environmental Protection Agency. Before that, being an Obama operative, he did not have a real job. He was an academic who applied the rules and procedures common among modern university careerists to his new job. He was ruthless liar in pursuit of a political agenda without any understanding or regard for the real world. The spoils of victory are academic grants and high level appointments.

He is noted for his "philosophy of enforcement:"
“It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean.  They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw and they’d crucify them.
“Then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years.”
According to Mr. Armendariz, you know, "Its a deterrent factor."

This philosophy prompted Mr. Armendariz to announce he would "crucify" companies violating environmental laws and bizarre interpretations. At last, the resistance to his openly fascistic rule resulted in his resignation. Going back to President Wilson, U.S. has flirted with fascism, it seem a good idea in the FDR period, but it remains offensive when visable.

A Mr. Kramer, Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club said,
"the only people who will celebrate his resignation are the polluters who continue to foul Texas air and the politicians who serve those special interests."
Among those special interests are people who object to lying and arbitrary tyranny. Read on.
The EPA issued an emergency order in 2010 accusing Range Resources of contaminating an aquifer west of Fort Worth [by fracking] and giving it 48 hours to provide clean drinking water to residents. Armendariz said, the Huffington Post reported, he went around the state because it (presumably, the company) wasn't responding quickly enough.
The order later was withdrawn after a state court ruled evidence that fracking had caused the contamination had been falsified.
Curiously, Range and EPA had settled the case on terms neither wholly favorable nor unfavorable to either side. This was ignored in the crucifixion. The Range Resources saga is complicated; the best account is found in this recent Dallas Observer article.
Dr. Armendariz left the Obama Administration and became a lobbyist. Of course, the rules of ethics did not apply to him. Fascists are exempt from law and regulation, as long as the President decides to preclude enforcement. No one wants to deviate from the President lest they be prosecuted or the subject of media outrage. Once you take an advantage from a gangster, you are owned.
Tougher rules against revolving door for lobbyists and former officials
"No political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years. And no political appointee will be able to lobby the executive branch after leaving government service during the remainder of the administration."Sources: Obama ethics plan

Sierra Club Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 29, 2012
CONTACTS:Orli Cotel - (415) 977-5627
Trey Pollard – (202) 904-9187

Sierra Club Welcomes Dr. Al Armendariz to Beyond Coal CampaignDALLAS – Former U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator Dr. Alfredo “Al” Armendariz will join the staff of the Sierra Club effective in mid-July as Senior Campaign Representative for the organization’s Beyond Coal campaign. Based in Austin, Dr. Armendariz will draw on his scientific expertise working on air, water, and climate science to help move Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas off coal-fired electricity and toward an economy powered by job-generating clean energy sources such as wind and the sun. "This is an exciting day for clean energy and public health supporters in Texas,” said Bruce Nilles, Senior Campaign Director for Beyond Coal campaign. “Al has worked closely with the Sierra Club for many years, as an environmental scientist and professor. He understands the critical importance of developing clean energy to create jobs, protect people and protect air and water."....

This is enlightening:

Club founder David Brower:  “Childbearing [should be] a punishable crime against society, unless the parents hold a government license… All potential parents [should be] required to use contraceptive chemicals, the government issuing antidotes to citizens chosen for childbearing.”
Finding sociopaths to ridicule will be easy.

FIrst in a Series on the New Politics: Science

RE:  Ken Haapala, Executive Vice President, Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP)

EPA Listening? At the EPA headquarters on Nov 7, EPA held one of its listening events on the need for rules to regulate carbon dioxide emissions at existing coal-fired power plants and other major emitters of CO2. The EPA web site, hand-outs, etc.; frequently used the term Carbon Pollution in discussing the event. No doubt, EPA will use these events to claim that the public demands regulation of existing plants.
Though he recognized that nothing he could say would change matters, Ken  (KAH) represented SEPP. He greeted those assembled as carbon-based life-forms and asked is life a pollutant? He asserted that human breathing increases carbon dioxide concentration of the air used by 100 times and asked does your breathing endanger human health? By this time, many in the audience were sitting up, listening; not necessarily with pleasure.
KAH reviewed the 3 major lines of evidence the EPA used for its endangerment finding: 1) a human fingerprint (hot spot), which does not exist; 2) recent unprecedented and dangerous warming, which stopped 16 years ago and was not unprecedented; 3) climate models are reliable, all of which failed to predict warming would stop and greatly overestimate warming. EPA is basing its policy on failing science and climate models that are wrong.
Then, he reviewed the Federal funding since 1993 and asked what has $165 Billion bought us? Some very good instruments to measure climate change, particularly from satellites. But, these are largely ignored. Much has been spent on failing science, failing climate models, and extreme exaggerations of the human influence on climate.
Why this failure? Because government-funded climate science tries to blame humanity for naturally occurring climate change. Based on its failing science, EPA is issuing economically destructive regulations on power plants
It is past time for the EPA to study the principles of empirical science and of model testing. Its credibility is at stake. In addition, the EPA should study the tremendous benefits to humanity and the environment from enhanced atmospheric carbon dioxide.
The comments were submitted to the EPA panel including references to the following documents, with links: Climate Change Reconsidered II, Physical Science; NIPCC’s Summary for Policymakers, Physical Science; and The Positive Externalities of Carbon Dioxide.
Upon conclusion of the comments, a view of the audience revealed many nervous smiles. It is great to see smiling faces at EPA headquarters on a dreary fall morning.
Haapala is one of those guys who goes to meetings; curiously, he does not seem to be a Marxist tool.  His background here.   Still, he he was just using logic so you would think the  government could follow it; however, the EPA is not interested in what it has already decided as a path for state control of the masses by manipulating their stupidity (we are past ignorance.)
Had a hard time finding fun graphics, here, as they were silly propaganda by all sides. Simpleton stuff.  So here is an image used by a school teacher. It is vaguely related, but that is good by today's journalism.

I suppose the cartoon is not harmless as students leave with their mushy brains filled with mushy opinions and those "feelings" become part of the no information voter.

The Marxist path to Statism

From today's LA Times, soon to be a recipient of TARP funds, I am sure, for support of the Ministry of Propaganda:

Reporting from Washington and Copenhagen - The Obama administration on Monday declared that greenhouse gases produced by vehicles, power plants and factories were a danger to public health, clearing the way for broad federal limits on climate-warming emissions.

The announcement by the Environmental Protection Agency is a key step in a legal process that would allow the agency to act, without Congress, to develop tough rules to control emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases that scientists blame for global warming.

"The vast body of evidence not only remains unassailable, it's grown stronger, and it points to one conclusion," said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson in announcing the decision. "Greenhouse gases from human activity are increasing at unprecedented rates, and are adversely affecting our environment and threatening our health." etc etc.
The EPA is part of the Reich and, along with the LA Times, is giving the Copenhagen magical mystery tour some sort of support, though no one outside the true believers sees such a power grab as good. I have mentioned many times that the left in Europe and Russia has been using the "green" strategy since the 1960s and it works where people feel and can't think.

I am almost positive, now, about this governmental insanity as we approach the next election cycle.  As Greg says the administration is "all in" and trying to do as much damage as possible without regard for the next election. They know they are on the chopping block and don't care.  It may be Obama doesn't see himself as running again, lest he have to, now, show he is a qualified candidate to several unhappy states.

The Democrat socialists have taken care of themselves and do have some sort of leftist philosophy, though any attempt to organize it is futile, to champion.  So, they make, using the word precisely, insane decisions to reach their ends - the ends analysis, as I call it.  Common sense and logic are irrelevant when in a panic to reach an end. So far, voters with common sense and logic still are permitted to vote.

Now, if we could only have some Republicans who think in ideological terms or, at least, strategic terms beyond petty party positioning. This is unlikely, hence something new this way comes.

PS:  The LA Times does not provide a way for people to respond on its blog. Get it yet?
