Gene's Footnotes

I have never been impressed by the messenger and always inspect the message, which I now understand is not the norm. People prefer to filter out discordant information. As such, I am frequently confronted with, "Where did you hear that...." Well, here you go. If you want an email version, send me an email.

Big Brother Education

Billions have been spend on the new digital age education, which is a good idea, if properly done, but it will be driven by standards much controlled by large investors and states.

Review this item, a mission statement, if you will. Notice good ol'  boy Jeb Bush is on this gig.

In short: the federal government and large businesses, called the oligarchy, will create national standards that everyone must meet, all children will have a computer, and a national, computerized system will be arranged to service the students, all of who will succeed, we are told.

Here is a good one:

All students have access to multiple high quality digital learning providers.

For the old-school people who like English, this actually means:

All students will have access, even if the nation has to pay for individual computers and Internet service, to multiple, high-quality, digital learning providers, which are private companies making vast money supplying approved information, as defined by the state, so that they can be useful workers when they graduate (and vote properly)

Education is the responsibility of each state and is usually supervised by local boards. Under this plan, teachers and states will be rendered immaterial, though kept around to vote properly.  If you hope the best for your child start saving to send him to a private school so he or she can make friends with the elite who will be learning traditional matters.

We are witnessing the take over by the state-computer complex.
