Gene's Footnotes

I have never been impressed by the messenger and always inspect the message, which I now understand is not the norm. People prefer to filter out discordant information. As such, I am frequently confronted with, "Where did you hear that...." Well, here you go. If you want an email version, send me an email.

Today's Game

Skim this list of well-known people to find a common trait:

  • Steve Jobs
  • Woznicak
  • Edward Albee
  • Paul Allen
  • Woody Allen
  • Julie Andrews
  • Julian Assange
  • Mary Kay Ash
  • Warren Buffett
  • Michael Dell
  • Henry Ford
  • Bill Gates
  • Andrew Jackson
  • Rachel Ray
  • John D. Rockefeller Sr.
  • Steven Spielberg
  • Mark Zuckerberg

Among these people are those who created the new world economy and the prior world economy. There are creative geniuses and many billionaires. This list is merely a selection of well known names. There are no worker-bees in this group.  No high school teachers, no union bosses, no government officials, no professors of sociology and so on.

Of this group, none graduated from a college.  Many did not get a high school degree.

Now, why is it our young people borrow $40,000 a year to pay socialists who teach them to decry capitalism?  They graduate and look for work in government, politics, and teaching. This is a national death spiral.

Never block a young person who has a dream. One can always pick up a college degree, like a racing form.  The years from high school, a dull place to be sure, to, say, 30 years old are critical to a person's development and storing some wealth, why waste four of those years drinking and being a jerk?

Of course, this is a selective list, but think about the innovation.  On a different level, many young people start to work on cars, house framing, plumbing and do so with full attention. These people find financial stability readily. Perhaps, at that point people can return to school to round out their knowledge, but usually there is no point. The professional student, on the other hand, is of no value to others and relatively screwed up. If you don't agree, read woman seeking men online posts.

Today, we have a smug, pseudo intellectual class, very pseudo, who agree with themselves they are superior and should be in charge, so when they secure a job, they hire others like themselves. We have brand schools that are magic gateways into the ruling cast.  But, look at what has come out of Harvard, Yale, and Princeton!

Bill Gates was in Harvard, but he dropped out to invent the present. So, I suppose something good came out.

Stupid is as stupid does.
