I am separated from my power cord so I will just throw this in while I do busy work, not that this isn't. Why this is double space, I don't know.

WARREN, Mich. – General Motors Corp. said Tuesday its Chevrolet Volt rechargeable electric car should get 230 miles per gallon of gasoline in city driving, more than four times the mileage of the current champion, the Toyota Prius.

The Volt is powered by an electric motor and a battery pack with a 40-mile range. After that, a small internal combustion engine kicks in to generate electricity for a total range of 300 miles. The battery pack can be recharged from a standard home outlet....

The combined mpg will be much lower as this rating is mostly for the cost of producing the electricity for the local driving.  The batteries are good for 40 m.  The hit to the grid and power generation doesn't seem to bother anyone, so lets close coal plants.

If these capitalists, out for themselves, built this, imagine what the government could do!  We could easily improve on the Lada and use tape to cover the interior sharp points so they don't cut passengers.
