Why We Have Climate Change

As you know we are in the eigth with year of global cooling.  I mentioned years ago this was to be the case because sun spot activity is abnormally low. Hence, I ridiculed the "narrative" of global warming and spat into the wind, afterward.

I did mention that Europeans had already caught on that "warming" was nonsense and were using "climate change." The true believers in America were not so sharp, but they caught on.

So, if it is cold, it is climate change; if it is warm, it is climate change; those huge destructive hurricanes that the government has predicted for ten years are not climate change because they never happened. Melting of sea ice in the arctic was climate change, but not the rapid increase of ice in the antarctic. The lack of CO2 in former warming periods were removed from discussions, so never mind. All very convenient.

Below is what NOAA tells me about global warming, today, in the Glens Falls, NY area. It was -8 this morning at Burger King.

Of course, when it is colder for a week, we have climate change. The definition of climate is irrelevant to the analysis of any given week's frigid or hot air. For those concerned about the climate, perhaps one could buy a goat and sacrifice it to the gods.

Anyway, the sun spots remain at a minimum, so watch out for solar change.

Allegre: Grandad of Global Warming Withdraws

Just republishing a recent article, below.  Immediately below, is an Izmite and it has nothing to do with this entry other than to offer some visual attraction:

In 2010 a survey of scientists, who I have never seen named, said 97% of climate scientists agree that man is causing global warming and that the 3% who disagreed were poorly qualified, like Dr. Lindzer of MIT. Who are these "scientists" and what is a "climate scientist?"  To see,  I took a quick look at report authors, obvious climate scientists.

You make your own decisions as to qualifications. Not that is matters because one does not add up credentials and votes to determined a fact.

The study authors were William R.L. Anderegg, James W. Prall, Jacob Harold and Stephen H. Schneider.

The report comes as the Earth continues to sizzle in 2010. So far, through May, 2010 is the warmest year ever recorded, according to the National Climatic Data Center.

OMG, it is a good thing I missed the warmest year (5 months) ever! Screw the records showing we are int a cooling phase for some 15 years.

Claude Allegre, one of France's leading socialists and among her most celebrated scientists, was among the first to sound the alarm about the dangers of global warming.

"By burning fossil fuels, man increased the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which, for example, has raised the global mean temperature by half a degree in the last century," Dr. Allegre, a renowned geochemist, wrote 20 years ago in Cles pour la geologie.." Fifteen years ago, Dr. Allegre was among the 1500 prominent scientists who signed "World Scientists' Warning to Humanity," a highly publicized letter stressing that global warming's "potential risks are very great" and demanding a new caring ethic that recognizes the globe's fragility in order to stave off "spirals of environmental decline, poverty, and unrest, leading to social, economic and environmental collapse."

In the 1980s and early 1990s, when concern about global warming was in its infancy, little was known about the mechanics of how it could occur, or the consequences that could befall us. Since then, governments throughout the western world and bodies such as the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have commissioned billions of dollars worth of research by thousands of scientists. With a wealth of data now in, Dr. Allegre has recanted his views. 

To his surprise, the many climate models and studies failed dismally in establishing a man-made cause of catastrophic global warming. Meanwhile, increasing evidence indicates that most of the warming comes of natural phenomena. Dr. Allegre now sees global warming as over-hyped and an environmental concern of second rank.  (It is years, now, you have been reading about the major impact of solar activity, here, as well as undersea volcanic eruptions.)

His break with what he now sees as environmental cant on climate change came in September, in an article entitled "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" in l' Express, the French weekly. His article cited evidence that Antarctica is gaining ice and that Kilimanjaro's retreating snow caps, among other global-warming concerns, come from natural causes. "The cause of this climate change is unknown," he states matter of factly. There is no basis for saying, as most do, that the "science is settled."

Dr. Allegre's skepticism is noteworthy in several respects. For one, he is an exalted member of France's political establishment, a friend of former Socialist president Lionel Jospin, and, from 1997 to 2000, his minister of education, research and technology, charged with improving the quality of government research through closer co-operation with France's educational institutions. For another, Dr. Allegre has the highest environmental credentials. The author of early environmental books, he fought successful battles to protect the ozone layer from CFCs and public health from lead pollution. His break with scientific dogma over global warming came at a personal cost: Colleagues in both the governmental and environmental spheres were aghast that he could publicly question the science behind climate change.

But Dr. Allegre had allegiances to more than his socialist and environmental colleagues. He is, above all, a scientist of the first order, the architect of isotope geodynamics, which showed that the atmosphere was primarily formed early in the history of the Earth, and the geochemical modeller of the early solar system. Because of his path-breaking cosmochemical research, NASA asked Dr. Allegre to participate in the Apollo lunar program, where he helped determine the age of the Moon. Matching his scientific accomplishments in the cosmos are his accomplishments at home: Dr. Allegre is perhaps best known for his research on the structural and geochemical evolution of the Earth's crust and the creation of its mountains, explaining both the title of his article in l' Express and his revulsion at the nihilistic nature of the climate research debate.

I have been going on about this for years  If you click on the "years," you will go back to 2007. Scroll down about a third of the archive for that month.  Indeed, this warming/changing crap is so boring that I rarely read up on it.

As I pointed out five years ago, the academic community needs to repair their reputations one the word is out. Time to move on to new grants.

The Duke physicists also introduce new statistical methods that they assert more accurately describe the atmosphere's delayed response to solar heating. In addition, these new methods filter out temperature-changing effects not tied to global warming, they write in their paper....

It is amazing what you learn when you do not read the NYT or listen to NPR. You do not have to claim to be a scientist  to read English.

New study suggests a temperature drop of up to 1°C by 2020 due to low solar activity

From the HockeySchtick:  A paper published today in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics finds long solar cycles predict lower temperatures during the following solar cycle. A lag of 11 years [the average solar cycle length] is found to provide maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature. On the basis of the long sunspot cycle of the last solar cycle 23, the authors predict an average temperature decrease of 1C over the current solar cycle 24 from 2009-2020 for certain locations.

Highlights

► A longer solar cycle predicts lower temperatures during the next cycle.
► A 1 °C or more temperature drop is predicted 2009–2020 for certain locations.
► Solar activity may have contributed 40% or more to the last century temperature increase.
► A lag of 11 years gives maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature.

The authors also find “solar activity may have contributed 40% or more to the last century temperature increase” and “For 3 North Atlantic stations we get 63–72% solar contribution [to the temperature increase of the past 150 years]. This points to the Atlantic currents as reinforcing a solar signal.”

A co-author of the paper is geoscientist Dr. Ole Humlum, who demonstrated in a prior paper that CO2 levels lag temperature on a short-term basis and that CO2 is not the driver of global temperature. 

OMG, Global Wind is Killing Us!

Since Professor Obama has announced that climate change (whatever that means) is a fact, government worker bees are trying to figure out how how nothing seems to be following the in-bred models.

The government's Council of Information, with departments such as the New York Times, Time, PBS, Discovery Channel, etc., your superficial distractions, are not sure what to report, these days about the "hiatus." 

The hiatus refers to the lack of global warming, which is, also, global change, which includes global cooling. So, there is an admission that the warming seems to be missing, which, for those who failed reeducation camp, must mean there is no climate.  I think. 

Nature Magazine, a pop science digest, is not to be outdone:

...several researchers, writing in Nature magazine, discovered that the wind off the Pacific Ocean is forcing warm water deep into the sea, which in turn lifts cooler water to the surface. 

This has cooled average global temperatures .36 of a degree since 2001. That’s not a lot, but it might be enough to slow down the warming.

I swear I did not make this up.  My humor is subtle, but would not be so bold as to consider anyone would accept such a contortion as satire.  I like the scientific: "That's not a lot, but it might be enough to slow down the warming." Yuk. Yessiree. 

So, global wind saved the earth from global warming by driving warm water under cold water!  We are saved, as long as the wind keeps blowing. 

Since wind reacts to temperature variants on our spinning globe, by blowing down the

warmer water (or whatever) below the colder molecules, wind is creating its own causation. We are in a death spiral! We need Goldman Sachs to tell us what to do.

There was no mention of the obvious, it is the solar storms that are in an hiatus.  (I think "an" is correct). The absence of storm activity is a precursor to continued cooling.  Think global freezing is likely. Unless, of course, the wind drives cold water back where it belongs, but, then, we will die from global changming.  

The answer is to have Progressor Obama announce that it is settled science that we do not need the sun. QED.

Blame Canada: Weather Change Caused By Canadians (Canadiens)

There has been extensive ersatz scientifically related essays written about global warming, which, since there is cooling, is now called climate change. That name is used because global cooling was used in the 1970s and, if things were just cooling, they would not be changing, which includes warming.

Conditions are so bad the scholars of the United Nations have voted that humans cause whatever the current condition may be.  While this is well enough, we must drill down below the superficial scientific jargon to determine what is happening and how we can fix the earth. After all, it is crazy to just blame everyone! The Heimlich Maneuver dictates that whatever the solutions may be, the right one is the simplest. Looking for the simplest idea should be, well, simple.

In biology there is a study of the neurological stuff found in the head. This is a serious scientific survey course, so it appeared to me that if I think using my brain, that would fall into neurological activity, which is scientific. So, after a few minutes of looking at the sub zero F (not C for commiegrade) weather outside my carbon producing coffee shop, I decided to solve the problem of the weather. All I needed was some science and anecdotal observation.

Science people have voted, I heard, that there is something called chaos theory. That is a fact; that being so, one can look to the little causes of big changes, such as a butterfly causing Katrina. This is scientific theory! I am no denier!

Therefore, while writing an email to Irene in Toronto, because I was tired of Canada sending us arctic weather, it suddenly was all clear. Simplistic observation reveals all.

Eureka! It is obvious: Canadian highs come from Canada; the arctic is in Canada; arrows of cold come from Ontario right down the Mohawk valley! This is so obvious that I am reminded of being a frog coming to boil in a pot.

I am announcing a new campaign:  Blame Canada!


There is a 100% correlation, here.  All cold weather that I feel comes from Canada. Even when some comes from, say Ohio, the weatherman in Ohio will tell you it originally came from Canada! 100% of the time.  The correlation points directly at Canada; this truth is settled.

But it is not enough to blame an abstract, geo-political, semi-Marxist idea. We have to drill down and find the root cause, then, de root it. In the end, according to the U.N., people are the cause of major changes on the earth, therefore Canadians are responsible for global weather change in New York. QED. Where does that weather go? Everywhere!

The country would have died out soon enough, it being so cold, but they cleverly began having something call landed immigrants.  Aliens, that is! Why the PC name for Aliens?

Aliens become Canadians and, therefore, keep up the stress on weather. This is an outrage! Notice all Canadians, alien or not, live on the other side of the border - the very same border where the Canadian cold fronts attack us in the quiet of the night. Vancouver is a hot bed of aliens who breathe and drive cars. CO2 is their natural resource, eh. They are part of the plot. No room, here, to explain the plot.

We have enough drones to chase all Canadians back to wherever they came from. This makes sense as there is no point in killing them as rotting bodies give off carbon dioxide. Aside from the science of the matter, the change has to be permanent which requires political manipulation.

Canadians must leave in fear and close their baby hospitals, where they develop SARS. The world must remain in fear of reconquering the land of the happy indigenous people. We need to arm the First Nations (silly name for Indians) and let them stay. Things were fine when the savages took care of mother earth. It is the Catholics and Episcopalians and Jews who infected Canada. Montreal is still a hotbed of frigid foreignism. They eat warm goat cheese, of all things. And poutine! Pig's knuckles!!!

The settle fact is clear: Canadians are responsible for climate change.  There is no point in denying that. Universities should instigate courses in Canadian Cold Studies, so the sober students will understand the social justice of eliminating the evil superhero.

Weather change starts there, something we all know, and blows right through Buffalo, Albany, and continues on to cool the entire earth, then, when the earth tilts over, Canadian air heats the planet. This hot and cold game they play causes fronts, which, in turn, causes storms and kills earthlings. NEVER FORGET KATRINA!

Whether Canada's horrific pollution is caused by pure malevolence or ignorance does not matter where the earth's existence is in balance.  A rabid dog must be put down.

Canadians must be regulated much more, then, removed. Sorry.

Global Warming was just one issue The Club of Rome (TCOR) targeted in its campaign to reduce world population. In 1993 the Club’s co-founder,Alexander King with Bertrand Schneider wrote The First Global Revolution stating,

“The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”

They believe all these problems are created by humans but exacerbated by a growing population using technology. “Changed attitudes and behavior” basically means what it has meant from the time Thomas Malthus raised the idea the world was overpopulated. He believed charity and laws to help the poor were a major cause of the problem and it was necessary to reduce population through rules and regulations. TCOR ideas all ended up in the political activities of the Rio 1992 conference organized by Maurice Strong (a TCOR member) under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The assumptions and objectives became the main structure of Agenda 21, the master plan for the 21st Century. The global warming threat was confronted at Rio through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and creation of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). It was structured to predetermine scientific proof that human CO2 was one contribution of the “common enemy”....

When I lived in Toronto, I recall a local politician making a comment that global warming was such a useful tool to us that if it did not exist we would have to invent it. A potent admission in a throw away comment.  She understood the key was to control regardless of actions. More "ends analysis." You see, people need to be led to higher ground by polticians who have never made a pay roll.

Social planners and statists are a product of a pathology of the soul. What matters is their ideas be imposed. Logic, of course, is based upon weird assumptions. The problem is, the elitist gang has a predisposition to agree upon what is a threat to their inherited position.

The essay is wide in topic and the comments, unlike all other sites I have seen, engage in grown up discourse. There is an interesting observation regarding Malthus and Darwin. Malthus was not a scientist, per se, and his first principles were opinion.

End of Another Global Fraud: IPCC in turmoil

As the Financial Post, a real paper from Canada, put it: here is all you need to know about global warming:

The nice colors are the models the IPCC and, hence, the true believers used to "settle" the question of global warming. The mean black lines are data, the deniers.

Flash back years: I explained all this and predicted, like a bad radio host, that real scientists will jump the PC ship one they start to look stupid. This is happening at the IPCC. The scientists at IPCC are at odds with the political drones who will publish data, then add a preface, one disconnected from reality, about how the world is ending.

There are many fraudulent careers at stake in an era when stupid people may have to work in the "private sector," as they call normal life.

One addition:  I glibly talked about solar activity as the thing to watch (and the models ignored). This is sort of a good plan, but the key is that water vapor the sun generates is the greenhouse gas that affects temperature.

I am in the process of organizing a NFP to cover the oceans with floating concrete.  Sounds reasonable.  Maybe, we coat it with a floating, while oil or something or kill animals that breath.

Another leak from the IPCC shows that politicians in Belgium, Hungary, Germany, and the United States attempted to pressure the scientists writing the report to cover up the lack in global temperature rise since 1998.

[L]eaked documents seen by the Associated Press, yesterday revealed deep concerns among politicians about a lack of global warming over the past few years. Germany called for the references to the slowdown in warming to be deleted, saying looking at a time span of just 10 or 15 years was ‘misleading’ and they should focus on decades or centuries. Hungary worried the report would provide ammunition for deniers of man-made climate change. Belgium objected to using 1998 as a starting year for statistics, as it was exceptionally warm and makes the graph look flat – and suggested using 1999 or 2000 instead to give a more upward-pointing curve. The United States delegation even weighed in, urging the authors of the report to explain away the lack of warming using the ‘leading hypothesis’ among scientists that the lower warming is down to more heat being absorbed by the ocean – which has got hotter.

Two points: First, for this article to refer to any legitimate scientist who questions the theory of human-caused global warming to be called a “denier” offends me beyond words, as regular readers of this website know.

Second, this leak proves once again the foolishness of allowing politicians to get involved in the scientific process. They should be kept as far away as possible, at all times.

Throughout history, governments have twisted science to suit a political agenda. Global warming is no different, according to Dr. Richard Lindzen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

“Global climate alarmism has been costly to society, and it has the potential to be vastly more costly. It has also been damaging to science, as scientists adjust both data and even theory to accommodate politically correct positions,” writes Lindzen in the fall 2013 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons.

According to Lindzen, scientists make essentially “meaningless” claims about certain phenomenon. Activists for certain causes take up claims made by scientists and politicians respond to the alarmism spread by activists by doling out more research funding. — creating an “Iron Triangle” of poor incentives.

“How can one escape from the Iron Triangle when it produces flawed science that is immensely influential and is forcing catastrophic public policy?” Lindzen asks.

Lindzen compares global warming to past politicized scientific movements: the eugenics movement in the early 20th Century and Lysenkoism in the Soviet Union under Stalin. However, the MIT professor argues that global warming goes even beyond what these past movements in terms of twisting science.

“Global Warming has become a religion,” writes Lindzen. “A surprisingly large number of people seem to have concluded that all that gives meaning to their lives is the belief that they are saving the planet by paying attention to their carbon footprint.”

“There may be a growing realization that this may not add all that much meaning to one’s life, but, outside the pages of the Wall Street Journal, this has not been widely promulgated, and people with no other source of meaning will defend their religion with jihadist zeal,” he added.

President Obama announced his plan to tackle global warming this summer.

“I refuse to condemn your generation and future generations to a planet that’s beyond fixing,” Obama said. “And that’s why, today, I’m announcing a new national climate action plan, and I’m here to enlist your generation’s help in keeping the United States of America a leader — a global leader — in the fight against climate change.”

A recently leaked report by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change claims there is a 95 percent chance that human activity — mostly from burning fossil fuels — is the main cause of global warming.

However, there has been no rise in global temperatures for the past 15 years.
