Told You So: Its the Sun Stupid!

I have been going on about this for years  If you click on the "years," you will go back to 2007. Scroll down about a third of the archive for that month.  Indeed, this warming/changing crap is so boring that I rarely read up on it.

As I pointed out five years ago, the academic community needs to repair their reputations one the word is out. Time to move on to new grants.

Study does not discount the suspected contributions of 'greenhouse gases' in elevating surface temperatures

Durham, N.C. -- At least 10 to 30 percent of global warming measured during the past two decades may be due to increased solar output rather than factors such as increased heat-absorbing carbon dioxide gas released by various human activities, two Duke University physicists report...[edited out para on this doesn't kill off the man is evil theory.]

Scafetta's and West's study follows a Columbia University researcher's report of previous errors in the interpretation of data on solar brightnesscollected by sun-observing satellites.

The Duke physicists also introduce new statistical methods that they assert more accurately describe the atmosphere's delayed response to solar heating. In addition, these new methods filter out temperature-changing effects not tied to global warming, they write in their paper....

It is amazing what you learn when you do not read the NYT or listen to NPR. You do not have to claim to be a scientist  to read English.

New study suggests a temperature drop of up to 1°C by 2020 due to low solar activity

From the HockeySchtick:  A paper published today in the Journal of Atmospheric and Solar-Terrestrial Physics finds long solar cycles predict lower temperatures during the following solar cycle. A lag of 11 years [the average solar cycle length] is found to provide maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature. On the basis of the long sunspot cycle of the last solar cycle 23, the authors predict an average temperature decrease of 1C over the current solar cycle 24 from 2009-2020 for certain locations.

Highlights

► A longer solar cycle predicts lower temperatures during the next cycle.
► A 1 °C or more temperature drop is predicted 2009–2020 for certain locations.
► Solar activity may have contributed 40% or more to the last century temperature increase.
► A lag of 11 years gives maximum correlation between solar cycle length and temperature.

The authors also find “solar activity may have contributed 40% or more to the last century temperature increase” and “For 3 North Atlantic stations we get 63–72% solar contribution [to the temperature increase of the past 150 years]. This points to the Atlantic currents as reinforcing a solar signal.”

A co-author of the paper is geoscientist Dr. Ole Humlum, who demonstrated in a prior paper that CO2 levels lag temperature on a short-term basis and that CO2 is not the driver of global temperature. 

OMG, Global Wind is Killing Us!

Since Professor Obama has announced that climate change (whatever that means) is a fact, government worker bees are trying to figure out how how nothing seems to be following the in-bred models.

The government's Council of Information, with departments such as the New York Times, Time, PBS, Discovery Channel, etc., your superficial distractions, are not sure what to report, these days about the "hiatus." 

The hiatus refers to the lack of global warming, which is, also, global change, which includes global cooling. So, there is an admission that the warming seems to be missing, which, for those who failed reeducation camp, must mean there is no climate.  I think. 

Nature Magazine, a pop science digest, is not to be outdone:

...several researchers, writing in Nature magazine, discovered that the wind off the Pacific Ocean is forcing warm water deep into the sea, which in turn lifts cooler water to the surface. 

This has cooled average global temperatures .36 of a degree since 2001. That’s not a lot, but it might be enough to slow down the warming.

I swear I did not make this up.  My humor is subtle, but would not be so bold as to consider anyone would accept such a contortion as satire.  I like the scientific: "That's not a lot, but it might be enough to slow down the warming." Yuk. Yessiree. 

So, global wind saved the earth from global warming by driving warm water under cold water!  We are saved, as long as the wind keeps blowing. 

Since wind reacts to temperature variants on our spinning globe, by blowing down the

warmer water (or whatever) below the colder molecules, wind is creating its own causation. We are in a death spiral! We need Goldman Sachs to tell us what to do.

There was no mention of the obvious, it is the solar storms that are in an hiatus.  (I think "an" is correct). The absence of storm activity is a precursor to continued cooling.  Think global freezing is likely. Unless, of course, the wind drives cold water back where it belongs, but, then, we will die from global changming.  

The answer is to have Progressor Obama announce that it is settled science that we do not need the sun. QED.

Ice continued to build this past week on the Great Lakes due to the cold air and temperatures staying below freezing, and Lake Superior's new record shows it.
The lake is 92 percent frozen, toppling a 20-year-old record of 91 percent set on Feb. 5, 1994. That statistic helped total Great Lakes ice cover soar, and we can expect to see more form in coming days.
The air temperatures this past week averaged around five degrees below normal for the Great Lakes area. This amount of deviation from normal means it was a fairly cold week.
As of February 5, 2014, the entire Great Lakes system is now reportedly covered 77 percent with ice, according to the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory. Last week at this time the ice cover was 66 percent. The 77 percent ice cover now still lags behind 1994, when the entire Great Lakes system had an average ice cover of 84 percent on February 5. This data is according to Jia Wang, physical oceanographer at the Great Lakes Environmental Research Center in Ann Arbor, MI....

NOAA Fraud: U.S. Temperature Lies and Lets Make the Past Seem Much Cooler

Follow the link to a technical explanation of the false science coming out of NOAA regarding the temperature of the United States. 

As I noted years ago, the avalanche of truth will expand and push aside false science. The true believers who are stupid will stand before the torrent in a confused prayer. The diabolical pseudo scientists and politicians will dematerialize and the media will talk about a traffic jam in New Jersey, which is apparently news. Then, scientists and government will confer with Goldman Sachs and institute a new terror that the world must fight against, no matter how many trillions of dollars must be transferred from the public.

Here are two summations:

1.  Bottom line is that there is clearly a huge error in the USHCN adjustments which has added a non-existent one degree hockey stick warming to the official US temperature record, and I now know just where to look for it in their code.

FOIA time.

This is what the adjusted temperatures would look like, without the error. Ignoring the fact that the adjustments themselves are probably not valid....

2. Bottom line is that the NCDC US temperature record is completely broken, and meaningless. Adjustments that used to go flat after 1990, now go up exponentially. Adjustments which are documented as positive, are implemented as negative....

USHCN thermometers show a significant decline in US temperatures since 1920, with 1921, 1931 and 1934 being the three hottest years.

NOAA decided that this simply wouldn’t do, so about a decade ago they started adjusting the data in the four steps shown below. Remarkably, each adjustment step causes the past to get cooler.

By the time they are done corrupting the data, they have hidden the decline and created a strong warming trend, with 1998, 1999 and 2006 being the three hottest years. Prior to corruption, 1999 and 2006 aren’t even in the top ten.

You can think of USHCN as being the Enron of US temperature data. The graph below shows the total adjustment. Note the massive cheat going on in  2012, which is needed to proclaim 2012 as the hottest year ever.

Clearly, man made CO2 is not sufficient to keep the earth at what scientists voted was its proper climate. A law has to be introduced into Congress to set up an End Times Fund.  The issue is whether weather is coming to an end. Can we run solar panels after  Armageddon? Would it help if we induced more volcanic eruptions?

US Cooling

A synthesis of reports of the

 National Climatic Data Center:

Most Recent 12-Month Period (Feb. Jan.) 1998-2011

Average = 54.09 deg. F

Trend = – 0.96 deg. F/ Decade (- 9.6 deg. F/century)

Even as the concentration of carbon dioxide continues to rise, global temperatures have not kept pace. For the contiguous United States, temperatures are in free-fall.

The U.S. has be most comprehensive data set, but I think we can safely say Europe is freezing.  

I wonder if the last two months are included in the numbers.

The UN and so on have reported an increase of temperature will occur during these years.  The government should recalibrate thermometers so we are actually warming, like they do with the inflation and unemployment numbers so the party line is not adversely affected.
